Sadly, "Made In Canada" is no longer enough!

There was a time when the three words, "Made In Canada", formed a statement of significant distinction. By navigating the waters of goods and services, using only the "Made In Canada" label as a beacon of pride, safety, and quality, Canadian consumers were once able to exercise informed, socially responsible choices.

Unfortunately and greatly due to unchecked trampant growth of globalization, and "our" governments' shameless subordination to large transnational corporate interests, the waters have become muddied, and our precious "Made In Canada" beacon has been broken - possibly FOREVER!

Don't be fooled by imported products cleverly disguised as "Made in Canada" or "Product of Canada"!

The checkered history of Canadian labeling regulations and rules regarding "fair competition", reads like a "who wants to play with the big boys" corporate fairy tale, and in the past, has made it virtually impossible for Canadians to know EXACTLY what they are buying based on product labels. Historically, these rules seem less oriented to helping Canadians exercise informed choice as consumers, and more aligned to enabling big corporate importers to legally HIDE the true origins of components in goods deceptively (albeit "legally") labeled as "Made in Canada" and "Product of Canada" - at least long enough to watch legitimate Canadian goods and service providers fade away into bankruptcy and dissolution. From a practical standpoint, any "new" Made in Canada regulations are far too little and too late for many small Canadian businesses.

Globalization is a PROVEN FAILURE!

The "global economy" is a mess and a measurable DISASTER! As we wade and drown by the masses in the flood tides of unprecedented recessions, the world is embroiled in corporate-manufactured wars driven by mainstream media terror; global human survival is at risk due to climate change (caused by humans); massive job losses continue; average wages drop; the cost of fuel is the highest in history; inflation is on the rise; food prices are skyrocketing; financial institutions are going broke; home foreclosures are at crisis levels; media is being consolidated and dominated by corporate interests; growing public concern is being dismissed and marginalized by government as "anarchy"; essential human and civil rights have been rolled back decades; China continues its unflinching regime of brutality and oppression (as we ignorantly support and finance this ANTI-democracy) - and yet, the largest transnationals are reporting RECORD PROFITS!

Most Canadians are decent folks who would do anything within their power to help their fellow workers and local businesses to ensure a healthy economy and environment for the PEOPLE of Canada. But, the Canadian government, US government, and transnational corporations don't want you to have that power! Instead, monumental trade deals between government and big business, such as Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) are being fowarded in secret and without public debate - despite SIGNIFICANT OPPOSITION from people in all affected countries!

How much are you willing to risk just to save a dollar?

How many MORE of our loved ones need to be injured or killed by unsafe and poisonous products imported from China and other countries with attrocious human rights and environmental records? How many more, once thriving, local Canadian businesses need to permanently close their doors because of "big box" competition? When will we finally realize that YOU ONLY GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!

What do you expect from products which are made in parts of the world where the people are not valued by those who hold inhumane control over them? When the bottom line is only the bottom line, safety, quality, and environmental responsibility are quickly trimmed out of the equation.

A speedy return to LOCAL ECONOMY is CRUCIAL!

It is high time to put the good sense and well-being of the Canadian PEOPLE, NOT corporate interests and their government assets, back in the driver's seat of our economy!

It is time to say NO TO GLOBALIZATION and the multidimensional mayhem it has perpetrated around the world.

And above all, NOW is the time to say YES TO LOCAL ECONOMY, and to show our unqualified support for fellow Canadian workers, REALLY Canadian businesses, REALLY Canadian goods, REALLY Canadian services, Canadian culture, Canadian sovereignty, OUR precious resources, and OUR coveted pristine geography!
