We, the sixty percent of voters who voted against Harper, knew this was coming. Just look at any past G-n summit to see where the government's priorities sit. Federal police have even been used to bounce Canadians out of conservative political events, and now, with only His hand on the throttle of a "majority government", Stephen Harper has already started applying the force of the government against workers in public AND private sectors. So much for pro-private business claims by conservatives! Pro-private-management, is more like it..."

It is typical and unfortunate that the facts related to government abuse usally come far too late after events like the global summits to allow proper civic digestion. $50 million tax dollars skirted virtually under the table to a single conservative riding (Tory MP Tony Clement's Parry Sound-Muskoka riding) under the guise "infrastructure upgrades" seem more like a political bribe to me than a "G-8 security" expense. The Auditor General of Canada also seems to have serious issues with this latest questionable Harper's government "expense"..."

Kudos to rabble.ca for extending some press space to Canada's latest hero, Brigette DePape, and of course, kindest thanks and appreciation to Brigette for her brave actions. She is a true CANADIAN! Her message is exceptionally clear - "working within parliament wouldn't stop Harper's agenda". Sadly, I agree with her, as do many of the Canadians now taking to the streets and blogosphere."

Anyone with even the slightest humanitarian sense MUST read reports like this sad dehumanizing example of money-talk! The Northern Miner is certainly not alone in its pandering to those who place profit above humanity, but this report is more than enough to know that corporate greed and humanity are diametrically opposed..."

I'm curious if the date of Jan 29 to announce of the proposed merger of Alpha Natural Resources and Massey Energy was chosen to commemorate the 29 miners killed at Massey Energy in the worst avoidable man-made mining disaster in 4 decades..."

* I'll Take Independent Media Over Corporate Media Any Day, writes "Watching Global's "news coverage" of the unfolding Stephen Harper Conservative Robocall election scandal, I was squirming in my seat from the way in which this information was being presented. By the carefully chosen words used, it really seemed to me that Global did not want to be saying the (not so flattering) words regarding Stephen Harper and his alleged gang of "election stealers". This particular report seems to underline how corporate media, is more about spreading heresay than actually independently investigating and reporting NEWS about the issues (with facts)..."

For me, it takes more that goofy "local" personalities on the news to win my trust. Every time I watch the news programs on Global TV, I get disgusted by the imbalance and corporate bias projected by this media group..."
