Description Of Environmental Practices:
My basic contribution to is to lead a conserver life style. I am a reluctant consumer. I have a worm composter in my home. As I live near the lake, I do use only environmentally friendly lawn fertilizer sparingly if at all. The small amount of lawn planted to reduce weeds was seeded with a low growing and drought resistant variety. I am attempting to garden without bringing in additional soils and very limited fertilizers - which means gravel and clay mostly. Plants must be hardy to survive. I try to drive to town only once a week ... less often if possible. I only have a manual push mower. I only have a kayak - no power boats. I participate in my community through volunteering. I shop local whenever possible. I protect our lake frontage by naturalizing the lakeshore. I do not pull out all the lake shore shrubbery and plant grass. These are the things that come to mind.
