Less than two weeks away! As most of you have already heard, I will be putting on my first solo flute recital in Milton on September 17. The concert is set to begin at 7 p.m. and will be approximately one hour in length. I know many students' families are receiving this E-mail, and I'm hoping that even the younger students will be able to come out and enjoy it. It will be a night of fairly serious music, but it's also inspiring to hear the levels that you can achieve if you work really hard and stick with the lessons. I'm considering having an intermission, so even if the little ones can only make it through half the concert, that's okay too.
The concert will take place at Milton Bible Church, located at 200 Main St. E. in Milton. Parking is in a municipal parking lot BEHIND the church (Parking lot #3 on Mary St.) From there, please enter through the back door of the church which is facing Mary St. If you have not been to Milton Bible Church before be forewarned that it does not look like a typical church building from the outside - it's more of a store front, so don't let that fool you.
As for details about the concert, I will be playing flute throughout the entire evening, and will be joined on various selections by Milton's own Judy Hunter on piano as well as Richard St. Onge on cello. Following is a list of the music that is likely to be performed:

Sonate pour flute et piano - Francis Poulenc
Sparkle (for flute and piano) - Patrick Cardy
Sonata in E minor HWV 359b - Handel
Assobio a Jato (The Jet Whistle) - Heitor Villa-Lobos
Tickets are not being sold in advance, but admission is $10 at the door. Grade 6-12 students who are studying flute at a local school are able to attend for free as long as they contact Susan (905-699-8188) before the concert to reserve their spot.
