Ok, So I live in Hamilton. I have excellent internet service via [competitor]. I am a university student and since my parents live here in
Restoule (Near North Bay) I'm here on my reading week. WELL... my mom
said her internet was sporadically slow, and I didn't think much about
it. UNTIL I had to access a third party program to get emails from one
of my professors. The download speed when using any sort of external
program is less than 1kb per second. I ran a speed test to find that
my mother was receiving a .5mps connection when it was advertised as
1.3mbps. I also think they've put a choke on using any sort of p2p
downloading. I say ANY kind of p2p downloading because I can download
random files from my browser but cannot download a small 12mb patch
for [poker program] using their program.
For all of you that actually live here, and pay for this service,
you're the victim of a terrible scam. There is NOOOO reason your
internet should be this slow. Don't you also find it fishy your
internet goes down when the weekend hits? I mean, it does cost Net
Spectrum money to keep it running, what reason do they have to let you
use your internet? I would be raising *!
Hungry for Highspeed Internet in Sudbury, Ont. writes this customer review about Net Spectrum.
We are looking for something other then dial up and are very limited.
We seen these ads for netspectrum all over and decided to call, when
I left my message, the girl called me back and left me a message
saying "I guess we are playing telephone tag" how is that for
customer service when they don't even have my service yet. I read the
comments already made and I am very nervous about putting out that
type of money for garbage, there is to much of that already in
Northern Ontario. When are the real business / government going to
reliaze that Northern Ontario deserves great internet access more then
the big cities, we need to stay connected not everything is a subway
away............ Well should I give netspectrum a try ? or not
?
NetSpectrum Fan in Sudbury, Ont. writes this customer review about Net Spectrum.
This internet access is super slow, unreliable, and way over-priced,
it costs more than $60.00 per megabit of service. Bell/Rogers costs
about $5.00 per megabit for internet access. No off-hour or weekend
service, no security, and no clue.
They promise 1.2 Mbps and you'll be lucky to get one half of this
advertised speed, making it the most expensive 500Kbps internet access
in Canada!
I love wireless internet access (not)... When it rains good luck with
getting a signal...
This service is for those who are desperate, for those poor folks who
cannot get anything other than dial-up access in their service area.
If you have any other options use them and avoid the aggravation
called NetSpectrum!
Dial-up may be slow but at least it works and is reliable…

"Our mission is to ensure that our customers benefit from the finest
products and service available in the communication industry." - quote
from netspectrum website. Is this a joke????
My service has been down 11 days this month and it is only the 20th!
Like clock work, it crashes every friday after buisness hours and
they do not fix it until 8:10 am monday morning. When you call their
so called "emergency service" number you get the answering service
(aka some girl half asleep in her bed at home that you just woke up)
and she tells you that she will forward the message right away...When
in fact after questionning her she admitted she gives them the message
on monday morning. Pathetic customer service.
They also lie about everything when you talk to them. I have had my
husband call and report the service down, my neighbours have reported
a problem and then when I call 10 minutes later, I am told that I am
the first person to report any issues. Also, the manager of the
sudbury office claims that he is notified of the service baing down
within 15 minutes of a crash and fixes it right away... Yet amazingly
we are without internet every weekend for the whole weekend. I guess
this means he is either very incompetent or a liar.
Terrible customer service and internet reliability.
Incidentally I am sending this via dia up service right now through
zeuter....(An actual reliable service for only 15.00/month)
p.S. Having your own emplyees write reviews of your company (jay) is
not ethical nor does it paint a reliable picture of your service.
Signed: dissatisfied customer # who knows how many....
