We are owned by the Franchise Company a Canadian based company out of Toronto and the parent company of the Franchise Company is First Services which is a publicly owned Canadian Company traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange. There is no requirements to purchase any products from anyone in particular. We agree to uphold the highest standards in purchasing of product. Majority of our product is purchased from other locally owned Canadian companies.

We have one location at 5260 - 75 Street. It is an 9000 square foot facility where 2800 square feet are dedicated to a showroom serving our customers needs and aspirations. We serve Edmonton and area including Red Deer, Fort McMurray and Grande Prairie areas.

We moved into this location about 1.5 years ago [2007]. Prior to that we were located only a few blocks away on 51st Avenue.

Classic Floor Based Regular Product Line - cutomized product completely mainly to the floor with a fair amount customization and finishing. 3/4" product melamine board. Classic Floor Based Lago Product Line - cutomized product completely mainly to the floor with a fair amount customization and finishing. 3/4" product melamine board wiht texture wood grains. Suite Product Line - highly customized product line. Full cabinets with backing. It is much more furniture like and is made of 1" thick product with 2 mm product edging for softer finishing look. Lago Suite Product Line - highly customized product line. Full cabinets with backing. It is much more furntiture like and is made of 1.1875 thick melamine board with texture wood grains. Will be launching this year: Virtuoso - highly customized product that is working with horizontal lines and looks extremely European looking.

Only our Lago collection is from Italy. It is only about 10% of our business otherwise all the other 90% wood products are produced from Canada. There are massive amount of wood producers to purchase from directly here in Alberta and BC. The closet rods and metal baskets and accessories are purchased from a Canadian Company, however they are produced in Tiawan. No closet company can purchase these items from any where in Canada. REASONS FOR IMPORTS: The line from Italy has textured melamine which is only starting to be available just now in Canada but still doesn't have all the finishing mouldings that customers require with the product. It is also a more greener product than some of the product here in Canada. As for all the metal accessories for the closets. There are no Canadian vendors that do not have them produced in Asia somewhere.

Description Of Environmental Practices:
One of our companies long term goals is: Reducing our environmental impact. We are working with vendors to get more environmentally friendly product daily. The product line form Italy has an E1 standard rating which is the highest grade given to product in Europe. Things that we do locally is to recycle our wood pallets. Send out our scrap metals to metal recyclers. In addition, we recycle all packaging from our doors and drawer fronts. In addition, all offices are equipped with recyling cans for paper. We are moving our entire ordering system from vendors to electronic rather than paper to reduce paper usage. In addition, our vendors have reduced chemicals in the wood products to the highest standards of government regulation that is held in California for wood product.

Even though our name says California Closets and it originally started in the United States, Canadians saw a great business and purchased it. (The Franchise Company and First Services). I am extremely passionate about Canada and love my country. I believe that we have a business that is passionate about the customer and I personally do a lot to promote being Canadian. I travelled aboard for many years and I wore the Canadian flag proudly on my back pack. I hope that our name California Closets will not detract people to purchase from me because I work hard to run a business that supports both Edmontonians and Canadians. Thank you to everyone that has supported us.
