Guilcraft floors, hardwood giant and hardwood design centre buy cheap wood from
china and sell the same by changing labels to made in canada. We
happen to buy some laminate from them for which we were told that this
product is made in germany(lifestep) but the fact is these *
forgot to change the label that is placed inside the box before
delivering the same to my home and the inside label says made in
china.The company lifestep is a german company who has started making
cheap quality laminate in china and these guys took an advantage of
selling the same in market by calling it as a german product. When we
approached them with this label the owner refused to not only take the
laminate back but also quoted other store's...

We came about this by chance, our experience is of some years back,
but we still sting at the thought of Guildcraft.
This outfit (is a bad
fit)is the most unprofessional company. WE
contracted them to do our laminate floor and paid in full. They sent
the contractor, who did not lay even one board before walking off the
job. reason: not told that certain jobs were included. old strips and
scraps of wood from the job left in our garage and drive way for days.
and cleared only after several calls. Job was not done well and we
asked them to address the issue, which they agreed to on the phone.
but never showed up or sent any one. after 10-15 phone calls, none of
which were returned and each time we had to go over the whole tale (to
humour them i guess) again, many a time we had to disguise our name
and number in order to talk to Manny or his partners, because often we
were told they are out on a job, but when we called back on another
phone with another voice, they would speak to us un ashamedly.Finally
we had our lawyer write them a letter of claim, which they ignored,
letters written to the consumers protection agency were also ignored.
when told that we would take them to court, his response was. " that
is a great idea, we will see you then" We were stuck with a shabby
job and regret that we had parted with all our money in advance. a
note of caution: Avoid them at all costs. if you cannot, hold back 25%
until you are fully satisfied. Or deal with * or *. their
workers may be not the best out there, but at least they are worried
about their name so they will take care of unfinished business. Please
avoid at all cost Guildcraft floors. I still shudder when i think of
our bitter experience.
